Africa Famine Appeal
Severe drought has left 3.7 million people facing starvation as the worst droughts in 60 years have hit East Africa in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. The United Nations has declared Famine in two southern areas of Somalia and hundreds of thousands have fled to neighbouring countries. Famine is officially declared when more than 30% of children must be suffering from acute malnutrition and two adults or four children must be dying of hunger each day for every group of 10,000 people.
The suffering of the drought victims is clear to all, and the need for both immediate aid and long term support for the millions of people affected is also clear. The charities listed below are working in East Africa and desperately need your support to help them continue their work in this stricken area. A donation to any of these charities will help the drought and famine victims. Maybe you’d like to create your own fundraising page for the relief effort? We will list these fundraising pages here also. Any support you can give, however you choose to give it will be hugely appreciated.
